Abstract: Abstract: In this talk, I will start with an overview of topological superconductivity and Majorana fermions. Next, I will discuss recent experiments designed to observe Majorana fermions in condensed matter systems such as semiconductor nanowires and chains of atoms in proximity to conventional superconductors. In the final part, I will briefly discuss our recent results on (i) a new topological state where Majorana fermions are generated by disorder (ii) hidden bosonised supersymmetry in topological superconductor Josephson junctions and (iii) whether it is possible to “hear the shape of a (topological superconducting) drum”.
