Bose-Einstein condensation on manifolds
Abstract : Bose-Einstein condensation on Ricci positive manifolds will be discussed for the free gas. Bogoliubov theory of the weakly interacting Bose gas can be extended to such manifolds as well. We will discuss the depletion of the condensate at finite temperature, we will find an upper bound for the condensate depletion in three dimensions via heat kernel techniques. In two dimensions, as expected from the Hohenberg-Mermin-Wagner theorem the assumption of a condensation is inconsistent in Bogoluibov theory. If time permits, we will discuss the c-number substitution theorem following Lieb et al. This is based on our joint work with Akant, Ertugrul and Tapramaz.
